As you already may know, I was so lucky to hop on a plane Wednesday to NYC to attend Martha Stewart's Bloggers' Night Out and BlogHer '10! I have so much to share about my trip, but since it is Monday and I've been thinking about bringing back my series "Cupcake Mondays"....let's start with my visit to the famous Magnolia Bakery!
Located just a few blocks from the hotel where I stayed, I was thrilled to hop over for a quick visit before heading to the airport Saturday! It was such a cute shop, with beautiful cakes and cupcakes at every turn!
These Jessie Steele aprons are just toooo cute!
This cupcake was a little slice of heaven....
devil's food cake with cream cheese frosting!
Hello delicious!
Of course, who could resist one of these cupcake t-shirts? Not me!
Have you ever visited Magnolia Bakery??
Did you love it as much as I did?
Kim....I've been to NYC four times....and Magnolia four times. Well, actually 6 times. LOL Love the place. Let's plan a trip to NYC and do a Bakery Tour!! We'll bring our stretchy pants!
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI'm from the UK and each time I go to NYC I make a bee-line for Magnolia. I actually secretly carried a box of cupcakes home on my lap inside my handbag for my husband the last time I went! They are divine!
me ha encantado tu post.. estupendo. Un saludo..
ReplyDeleteI travelled all the way from Down Under (aka Australia) to visit the divine Magnolia Bakery!!! It didn't disappoint.....*sigh* As luck would have it, the same morning, I also stumbled upon Carrie Bradshaw's 'stoop' a few blocks away and spoke to some of the crew from SATC1 movie. Thank GOD I had packed my camera! To top it all off, I finished with a visit to Broadway Panhandlers. Sheer bliss and a bit of damage to my credit card!
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, it was a truly Red Letter Day! :-)
That t-shirt is PERFECT! I must go there!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I travelled to NYC this summer, then a friend of mine went the week after. I didn't make it to the Magnolia but my friend did and they loved it. However, one that you might want to try next time you go is Momofuku's Milk Bar. It's kind of hard to find because their sign is little and it says Ma Peche. But they have Chocolate and Composte Cookies to dye for. They also have "Crack" Pie that they are known for. They call it that because people get addicted to it. Funny huh?
ReplyDeleteI truly heart MB! I came home with 6 cupcakes on my one and only trip to NYC. I did find a website that has the recipe for these beauties...it's not exactly the same as the real thing but it's a DARN good subsitute for this Oklahoma girl!

I went to Magnolia downtown, ate half a cupcake and them forgot the rest in my hotel when I checked out! Ah! I was so upset because that first half was divine!
ReplyDeleteMy friend and I went on a cupcake tour of NYC this past weekend and of course one of our stops was the Magnolia bakery. The store was so pretty and we had a delicious caramel cupcake! We just had to buy the t-shirts in honor of our NYC cupcake tour!
ReplyDeleteYou're making me miss NY! I lived there for 9 years. Love Magnolia Bakery - love the cupcakes as well as their homemade ice cream and banana pudding, which I make often (recipe is in the Buttershop's book - her former partner). xo
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Magnolia Bakery and the cupcakes are to die for. My best friend works within walking distance so it's really bad!
ReplyDeleteI lived a block from the original Magnolia for a year back before it got famous on SATC and we used to head there way too often for late night treats. I think I may need to pop over and get one of those t-shirts now!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a super fun (and delicious!) visit to NYC! :)
ReplyDeletei have NEVER even been to NYC! (yes, amazing, i know.....) however, both, NYC and the magnolia bakery are on the bucket list!!! everything looks soooo delicious! i am trying to lick my computer screen!!!!
ReplyDeleteeverything looks divine!!!! I cant believe with all the times I've been to NYC (I live just 2 hrs away) and I have never been there.... I'm missing big time!!http://myleisure-adriana.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI may be one of the only people who was not impressed with Magnolia Bakery! I really wasn't though. I make much better in my own kitchen. It really is a beautiful shop though.
ReplyDeleteAw Your story sounds Delicious!...I've never been to NYC but i hope to go...It's on my List!
ReplyDeleteWe love Magnolias - the shop is so pretty and the cupcakes so good. Sometimes we'd stop by in the middle of the work day for a quick dessert break.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your beautiful pictures of New York with us.
I adore Magnolia Bakery! You will have to get their recipe book. It's great. Whoppie Cookies, Banana Pudding...yum!

ReplyDeleteOk every other month we are in NYC and I've never been!!!
ReplyDeleteHORROR!
The Hubs should Known better (being that he is the one from NYC) so guess wher he is going to HAVE to take me?
Devil's food cake with cream cheese frosting sounds like a little piece of heaven to me! Yum!!! I might need to make some this week! :D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it so much that I have even danced a happy, happy, cupcake dance there while waiting for my treat with my bff who lives in the 'hood! And I LOVE it so much that my 2nd daughter's name is Magnolia!
ReplyDeleteI so want to go to Magnolia Bakery! I hear so much about it in the Blogosphere. I baked a Lemon and Raspberry Layer cake for my daughters birthday last week which was adapted from Magnolia Bakery and it was delicious! When I come to the US next I will try and include a visit in my itinerary:)
ReplyDeleteThe cupcakes I've had at Magnolia have been slightly dry, though I did like the Caramel Cupcake - I like Chickalicious, Two Little Red Hens and Cupcake Cafe cupcakes better.
ReplyDeleteOkay .. I hate to admit this, but we (myself and family) do not like MB! We've been a few times and felt the cupcakes were dry and not so tasty.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE Cupcakes by Melissa in Soho .. tiny little cupcakes with all types of fillings - to die for!
I have to agree with Alicia and melissa- I always find Magnolia's icing too grainy and overly sweet. For cupcakes in NYC, I like Sugar Sweet Sunshine's pistachio.
ReplyDeleteI went on a Whrrl Sex and The City walking tour as part of the BlogHer conference and one of our stops was the Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street. The line was long, but it was well worth the wait. The cupcakes were delicious. I had one with coconut on top. Yum.
ReplyDeleteBeen to Magnolia Bakery a few times and had a good cupcake and not as good. BUT, I will tell you the cream cheese frosting is delicious!
ReplyDeleteThat looks absolutely yummy!
